Isaac Babel is an outstanding Russian writer of the early 20th century who had a great influence on the work of such famous masters as Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov, Yuri Olesha, Valentin Kataev, Konstantin Paustovsky, Eduard Bagritsky, Mikhail Svetlov. In 2019, the entire country will celebrate 125 years from the date of its birth. The "Chamber Stage" Theater decided to release two performances for the writer's anniversary on the motives of Babel's early stories. The title of the first part is "First Love". A young schoolboy Sashka reads Turgenev's story and dreams of falling in love with someone. Fate gives him this opportunity, but in very dramatic circumstances. In the center of the play is a family where mom, proud of her learned son-gymnast, and two eccentric, crazy grandfathers live from morning to night. Situations in which the heroes sometimes turn out to be, could even be called comic, considering that they live in a small town near Odessa and speak the unique Babel language. But only outside the window the year 1905, when all in Russia was not to laugh.
